PREVIEW: WEXT Announces Their Second Annual Local 518 Fest

This summer season, Capital Region music lovers have been busy with a wide variety of live music and free concert events. To keep the magic of free music available as we enter July, WEXT will be hosting their second annual WEXT Local 518 Fest on July 25 at Music Haven, a celebrated outdoor concert series in Schenectady.
WEXT Radio, known for collaborating with and sharing the works of local artists every week on air, is bringing together a dynamic array of musicians for their second 518 music festival. From 2–9:30pm, attendees can catch performances from, in order of lineup, The Sugar Hold, Shannon Tehya, The Alec Lewis Group, The Belle Curves, Aila Chiar, Sly Fox & The Hustlers, and, to close the festival, Sirsy. With musical genres ranging from folk, to pop, to indie rock, this free event is perfect for anyone searching for a fun night of music.
“There is so much incredible talent and music in the Local 518. It’s not easy to limit yourself to just seven acts for the lineup for WEXT Local 518 Fest,” says Chris Wienk, afternoon host and program director at WEXT and Vice President, Radio at WMHT Public Media. “Free and open to the public, this event showcases what WEXT does best: highlight our diverse and vibrant local music scene and bring the community together to enjoy it.”
In addition to an exciting group of performers, a selection of local vendors will also be in attendance for this event, including Electro Taco, a food truck offering delicious taco options, and Mike's Hot Dogs, a staple restaurant on Erie Boulevard for over 50 years. The WEXT Local 518 Fest is an exciting event planned by local community figures experienced in sharing local talents.
