Troy is set to come alive with the vibrant sounds of local music, thanks to the return of the beloved “Wake Up Wednesdays” concert series at Ryan’s Wake Public House. Kicking off on May 14 and running through June 18, this free outdoor concert series promises to be an enchanting mid-week escape for music lovers and community members alike.

Now in its third season, “Wake Up Wednesdays,” presented by NextStep Federal Credit Union, will transform the space between the picturesque Hudson River and the welcoming rear deck of Ryan’s Wake into a lively concert venue each Wednesday evening. The festivities begin at 5 p.m., featuring an eclectic mix of bands that cater to all musical tastes—from Celtic melodies to the wholesome beats of modern country and the classic anthems of rock.

“It’s called ‘Wake Up Wednesdays’ but you’ll also be able to wake up on Thursday because you don’t have to stay out too late,” said Jared Kingsley, General Manager of Ryan's Wake, emphasizing the series’ convivial but family-friendly spirit. The concerts are rain-or-shine, with a backup plan that brings the performances inside to the spacious “Flynn Side” if the weather takes a turn.

As excitement builds for the series, local residents have a chance to unwind after work, enjoy a great meal, and soak in the views along the scenic waterfront—all while reconnecting with friends and neighbors.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of summer than being on the river with live music, great food and drinks at Ryan’s Wake,” stated Joe Wiley, CEO of NextStep Federal Credit Union. His organization is proud to support this cherished community event, reinforcing its commitment to the Capital Region.

Ryan’s Wake Public House is not just hosting concerts; it’s commemorating its own milestone, celebrating 20 years of community engagement and hospitality. Established in 2005 by Chris Ryan, the venue has grown from a modest pub into a multifaceted gathering spot, and its anniversary is a testament to its role in fostering fun and friendship down by the riverside.

The name “Ryan's Wake” pays homage to the Ryan family’s legacy and the tradition of celebrating life at an Irish wake, along with a playful nod to the wakes created by boats on the Hudson River—making it the perfect setting for a summer of music.

As Troy gears up for a vibrant season of free outdoor concerts, “Wake Up Wednesdays” invites residents and visitors alike to revel in the joy of live music and community togetherness. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this delightful tradition that not only showcases local talent but also gets everyone warmed up for summer!
