PREVIEW: Final Encore Screening of Killeidoscope

02/27 @ The Spectrum Theatre, Albany

Killiedoscope was shot all around the Capital Region, including one of the major set pieces: a climactic chase scene shot around the scenic Cohoes Falls.”

Killeidoscope, the feature film from local director Joe Bagnardi and associate producer and editor Jeff Kirkendall, received an encore screening at The Spectrum Theatre scheduled for Friday, February 27 at 10:00 p.m.

After debuting on February 12 to a large crowd and enthusiastic response, The Spectrum added additional screenings, with this Friday’s being the final scheduled event.

Killeidoscope is equal parts revenge story and serial killer potboiler. A man, who is falsely accused of being “The Killeidoscope Killer,” teams up with a member of Scotland Yard and two police detectives to find the real culprit before more lives are lost.

Bagnardi and Kirkendall were inspired by the works of Alfred Hitchcock, including The Birds and Suspicion. Audiences have also noted a “dash of John Waters” as well (in viewing the poster, can confirm). In fact, the project originated from one of Hitchcock’s unrealized projects.

“Hitchcock had a movie called Kaleidoscope which he did test footage for but ultimately decided not to make,” Bagnardi and Kirkendall explained. “So, we created a variation on this unfinished title and made it Killeidoscope — a story about a serial killer.”

The filmmakers also borrowed from some of their own earlier short films, including Bagnardi’s Maniac’s Morgue from the ‘70s and Kirkendall’s Night Therapy from 1999.

Killiedoscope was shot all around the Capital Region, including one of the major set pieces: a climactic chase scene shot around the scenic Cohoes Falls. Eagle-eyed viewers may also recognize locations from Clifton Park, Kinderhook and Watervilet, among other Capital Region locales.

While this final encore screening at The Spectrum is the last local screening on the schedule, Bagnardi and Kirkendall hope to bring the film to a wider audience.

“We hope that we'll be able to schedule additional local showings, and we plan to begin contacting distributors who may be interested. Ultimately, we'd like to get the movie released on as many streaming platforms as possible.”
