PREVIEW: An Afternoon of the World's Best Short Films

10/25 @ The GE Theater at Proctors, Schenectady

The 45th anniversary of the Asbury Short Film Concert returns to the GE Theatre at Proctors for a third time this Sunday, October 25, 2026.  This cinematic celebration is co-presented by Film Schenectady and Proctors and will begin its showcase of fine short films at 2 p.m.

“An Asbury short film 'concert' combines world-renowned shorts from the past with current festival hits, providing the rare opportunity for audiences to view elite, international films on a real cinema screen rather than YouTube, smartphones, or computers,” the organization notes.

The Asbury Short Film Concert has become the premier short film exhibition for international talent. They have delighted audiences at Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Alamo Draft House in Dallas, Texas, Summer Stage in Central Park, NY, Osprey Art Center in Nova Scotia, Canada, MOAS in Daytona Beach, Florida, The AERO Theatre in Santa Monica, CA, Royal Festival Hall in London, U.K., and The Vero Beach Museum of Art in Florida.

Guest host Richard Lovrich, a luminary in the Capitol District arts community, will introduce the audience to a smorgasbord of internationally-lauded, celluloid short adventures including animation, live action comedy, drama, and documentary filmmaking.

Special guest filmmaker Sarah Bachinger, a progressive filmmaker whose ideas explore ecological dynamics interrelated with art, will also be present during this exhibition of international short cinematic gems on a big screen.

The GE Theatre at Proctors is located at 432 State St. in Schenectady.  General admission is $20. Student admission is $15.  For reservations and information, please visit www.atproctors.org or proctorscollaborative.org.
