PREVIEW: Americana in the Adirondacks, Presented by The Park Theater Foundation

Beginning 09/13 @ The Hub, Brant Lake

Provided by Angelina Valente

“I can’t think of a better setting for a concert… It all makes for a perfect fall afternoon and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

True local music fans are no doubt keenly aware of how spectacular our local folk/Americana scene is. On almost any given day throughout the region, you can find someone performing that would easily go toe-to-toe with any Nashville native.

The Park Theater Foundation in Glens Falls of course recognizes this as much as we do, and is about to kick off its second annual Adirondack Americana music series to prove it to any and all naysayers. The free, bi-weekly series will be held outdoors at The Hub in Brant Lake every other Saturday from September 13th through October 11th.

“I can’t think of a better setting for a concert,” The Park Theater Foundation’s Executive Director Chris Ristau said. “At the base of Brant Lake, at the foot of Bartonville Mountain with food and craft drinks. It all makes for a perfect fall afternoon and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Kicking things off on September 13th is multi-award-winning singer/songwriter, Angelina Valente. Often switching her instrument of choice between ukulele and piano, the throughline of her music is her incredible vocals which have the ability to both bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye — sometimes even simultaneously. As hinted above, her 2023 album, Sing, earned her three well-deserved Eddies Awards for Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

“I’m honored to be part of a lineup of killer women musicians,” Angelina told me. “Sharing a series with my friends is the absolute best. Plus, we’ll be up north during the fall and what’s better than that?”

Following Angelina on September 27th will be Caity Gallagher, another singer/songwriter who can be found gigging regularly throughout the Capital Region. Caity blends the lines between folk and pop effortlessly, her songs carrying a tinge of Ingrid Michaelson in them, along with a whole lot of heart. Not to mention, the joy with which she performs them simply radiates from the stage to the audience.

To close out this year’s must-see series will be Carolyn Shapiro on October 11th. Carolyn is a banjo player, songwriter, and a regular at Caffe Lena. Her authentic folk influences are ever-present, giving her songs a timeless, yet original, feel. And honestly, is there a cooler instrument to hear live than the banjo? (Besides a theremin…)

All performances start at 3:00 PM at The Hub (27 Market Street, Brant Lake, NY 12185) and each headliner will be joined by a special guest. There will also be food and beverages available for purchase on-site.
