The Flotsam River Circus rallied revelers to riversides of the Capital District including a stop at Gateway Landing Park in Schenectady for a show on the evening of August 28.
Winding their way along the Erie Canal and the Hudson River from Buffalo to New York City, this ragtag gang of musicians, acrobats, puppeteers, circus performers and hideous giant mutant fish drop anchor in waterfront towns and offer up a free show for all ages (they rely on donations to keep them afloat). With a rough-hewn, rickety raft for their stage the whimsical crew engaged in a pantomime performance with constant musical accompaniment from a fishy trio at stage right. The towering mast at stage left provided a precarious perch for some astounding aerial acrobatics culminating in a hair-raising finale.
