Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy. The Northeastern NY Chapter of AFSP was formally chartered in 2006 and serves 15 counties in Northeastern New York including Schenectady, Saratoga and Albany.

Earlier in the day, AFSP will be hosting an Out of the Darkness Walk at Central Park in Schenectady. Check-in is at noon, for a 1:00 p.m. start.
