Julia Alsarraf - “Sorry”

“Sorry” Is a journey through regret for the mistakes made in the course of a relationship that has now ended. The somber guitars mirror the sad memories expressed in the lyrics. Julia Alsarraf voice is soft but powerful enough to carry the listener through the experience of recognizing where you went wrong, yet never collapses into self-pity.

Flavour - “Radiation Boogie”

“Radiation Boogie” As the name suggests, is definitely a boogie. It has a classic upbeat ‘70s glam-rock guitar riff that stays consistent throughout the song. It personally makes me want to put on eyeliner and dance with a stranger at a club.

The Regal Selects - “As Above, So Below”

“As Above, So Below” has instrumentals that will catch your attention and transport you to the ‘90s through the grungy guitar, while the lyrics remind us to pack in as much life as we can before the drum roll is over.

ANGLES - “Humidity”

“Humidity” has soft and relaxing instrumentals with a prominent bass, but it's the lyrics that really hooked me in. “Humidity” has lyrics that tell a story of a mental conflict between wanting to try again vs. needing some time away. It felt like my own experiences were being narrated to me.

Ruby of Thanks - “Shadow”

“Shadow” is a soft and soothing song that calms the brain; it sounds like looking out the window on a rainy day and admiring the gloomy yet beautiful sky. I have permission to not chase, and to just be. The natural guitar and melodies allow me to enjoy his melancholy.

Alex Castle - “I Killed”

“I Killed” has a honky-tonk rock sound that captures your attention from the start; the upbeat guitar makes me want to dance or get in a fight at an open mic night. If I could bottle the confidence in Alex Castle's lyrics, Xanax would be out of business.

Babehoven - “Three Reds”

“Three Reds” starts with a calming guitar progression that sounds like a beautiful Autumn day with nature surrounding you. As the song continues, that same guitar progression is still there, but with the addition of the drum beat, it has me reminiscing about not appreciating the world around me. Definitely going on my Fall playlist!

Meg Lui - “Elvis Queen”

“Elvis Queen” sounds like a TV character’s redemption arc soundtrack, with powerful ‘90s chord progressions that fade into an upbeat rhythm. Meg Lui's wistful lyrics make me want to see the past, as paths diverged in the present. Enjoy your musical commute with the windows down.

Work Crush - “Emotional Plea”

“Emotional Plea” is a callback to space-show-disco, showcasing funky sound effects that bring you back to the ‘70s, but with lyrics evoking another time, a modern day poetry slam for social justice. Novelty single, a unique song that may resonate with a particular audience.
