April was a weird one. And not just for me; I heard the same from a lot of people. Apparently there was something going on with the moon. If any of you have any further information as to when that might change, please send it my way. If not, just give the tunes below a listen. they’re all quite lovely.

Doctor Baker - “Dream State”
A mellower cut from the indie-rock quartet, "Dream State" is a lovely, poetic song reminiscent of bands like Youth Group and Nada Surf. The chord progression is interesting and the time signature change throws you for a welcome loop, bringing the song to a satisfying close. Looking forward to their new album out next month.

Lucas Garrett - “Loosey Goosey”
"Loosey Goosey" is an instrumental track Lucas recently composed for a movie. It's a synth-forward track with a very 'spy-thriller' vibe. Well orchestrated and thought out as ever from the multi-talented musician.

AGE of the BEAR - “Point of View”
Another absolutely gorgeous track from AGE of the BEAR, aka Anthony Cubbage. The Sean Carey vibes are strong with this one, as a chorused electric guitar is covered gently in a blanket of serene vocal layers. Quite simply, it's immaculate.

Tops of Trees - “Mad Love”
Released all the way back at the beginning of the month, Tops of Trees' new single is another funk-infused jam full of sunshine. The harmonies are spot on and the music is tight as ever. Be sure to check out Rory Graham's interview with the band in this month's print issue.

Man Must Explore - “Hold Onto Me”
When the chorus of "Hold Onto Me" first hits, it catches you off guard in the best way. The vocals absolutely soar, leading the charge on a bona fide anthem. Well done pop-rock, right here.

Moe Greene & The Dive Bar Juicers - “Tell Me”
This is my first introduction to Moe Greene & The Dive Bar Juicers, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. "Tell Me" is bluesy garage rock that sounds as if you're witnessing it live, right there in the room with the band. Not too shabby.

YORT - “West of Reason”
YORT actually released two singles this month---"Pursuit of Happiness" and this one, "West of Reason". True to its name, the song has very western-esque riffs and a baritone-adjacent vocal. It's a fun side of the band who continues to pump out quality tunes.

Deanna DeLuke - “Hush”
The latest single from Deanna DeLuke has an almost Elliott Smith-like quality about it. The whispery double-tracked vocals, the lofi-esque production... it all works exceptionally well. With her slate of recent singles, Deanna has yet to miss.

Boss Crowley - “Fallin’ Apart” (feat. Alec Lewis)
"Fallin' Apart" is the first single from Boss Crowley's upcoming album, and if this is a sign of what's to come, we're all in for quite a treat. It's a rootsy, folk-rock cut with some nice acoustic-tinged instrumentation. And the guitar solo at the end by Alec Lewis is the cherry on top.

ShortWave RadioBand with JB!!! aka Dirty Moses - “Where We Both Started”
Garage rock band pairs with hip-hop artist has a really nice ring to it, and boy do the results speak for themselves. An unexpected yet delightful pairing, this genre-melding song is driven by an impeccable bass line and immaculate flow from JB!!!. What's not to love?
