Byrdhouse Records & Super Dark Collective are thrilled to present an unforgettable evening of music at No Fun in Troy on Sunday, September 28. Featuring Winter with touring support from A Country Western, this event promises to deliver a dreamy performance that music lovers won’t want to miss! Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with music starting at 8:00 p.m.

Samira Winter has been a mainstay in the Los Angeles music scene for over a decade, carving out her own niche among the dream pop scene under the name Winter. After a journey that began in Curitiba, Brazil and included her cutting her teeth in a few of her very first bands in Boston, she felt the draw of Los Angeles. Finding her place among the DIY rock community in the city of fallen angels, the basement of her longtime Echo Park home was host to countless shows and even Winter’s first practices. Despite her affinity for L.A.’s cosmic, inspiring aura, she was drawn to a change of scenery resulting in a journey towards growth that led to New York City.

Prior to what was an emotional coast-to-coast move, she spent roughly two years writing songs often in between tours and in different cities The resulting 13 songs comprise her new LP, Adult Romantix which is her Winspear debut and the follow-up to 2022’s landmark What Kind of Blue Are You?. It also serves as  a love letter to her time in L.A. The new record was, in her words, “a total reset”; It’s an intensely personal record that cemented Winter’s unique musical language, flush with Samira’s memories and nostalgia.

She describes Adult Romantix as “a tunnel of summers and memories,” and said that she took inspiration from all kinds of unique places, from romantic-period texts like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to ’90s rom-coms. Samira channeled a textured, yearning indie rock sound that squared with her vision of “a lost L.A. summer”; a departure from the electronic experimentation of her 2024 EP …and she’s still listening, penned around the same time.

Adult Romantix claims influence from such vaunted sources as Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith, Dean Blunt, and California shoegaze like à la Further and Starflyer 59. Marked by swirling, drive-pedal squalls and open-tuned acoustic guitar, there’s a palpable bittersweetness to these raw, lovesick tunes. The record is characterized by a strong sense of introspection, with plenty of echo effects and icy breakbeats blending seamlessly with Samira’s vocals. Adult Romantix thrives on themes of escapism, always delightfully in the clouds and often sonically peculiar.

Adult Romantix allowed Samira to conjure the memories of her 20s in Los Angeles and begin to say goodbye to them while moving on with a refreshed outlook on her future. It’s a record that touches themes of romance, self-sabotage, and deep contemplation, with the sobering end of summertime looming like a spirit in the night. Winter will be bringing all of those vibes with them when they bring their Adult Romantix tour to No Fun on Sunday night.

This is a one-night-only event! Ages 18+, Tickets are on sale now for $18 in advance and can be purchased here or via Box Office at the bar at No Fun! Admission will be $23 at the door the night of the show.
