PREVIEW: The Eleven at Lark Hall Hosts Songs of Change: A Protest Music Celebration

10/18 @ The Eleven at Lark Hall, Albany

On October 18, The Eleven at Lark Hall is set to host the event, Songs of Change: A Protest Music Celebration. Spearheaded by Eddies Award-winning jam-band, Tops of Trees, the event will run from noon to 4 p.m.

The purpose of this event is to help get out the vote for the upcoming midterm elections and to promote groups in the community dedicated to effecting political change. The musical performances of the event will honor the rich history of protest music that has permeated our culture for decades.

“[Music] has given strength to the people who have made the hard sacrifices to inch our nation closer to its promise. This event is to celebrate those songs and musicians in our long history that have inspired that progress and to highlight the groups in our community today who are doing the work.” ~Damian Ubriaco, Tops of Trees

Songs of Change seeks to highlight the League of Women Voters in Albany County, Singing Resistance and several local indivisible groups. Event organizers hope to energize the local voting base and to have attendees sign up with these groups.

The lineup is still being announced, but so far, the featured performers include:

Tops of Trees

The Eastern Highs

Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets

Girl Love

Mark & Jill
