PREVIEW: The Sandy McKnight Songwriters Fund and a Night of Musical Celebration

On March 20 from six to eight pm, the Common or Garden Pub in Housatonic, Massachusetts, will be graced with another installment of The Sandy McKnight Songwriters Fund’s Songwriter Series. Featuring artists Lily Lothrop and Jeff Katz, audience members will be able to immerse themselves in the art of two deeply authentic musicians.
This installment of the songwriter series highlights two artists deeply dedicated to their work in the music scene. Lily Lothrop, a Troy-based musician, has been celebrated for her honest, unique, and earnest portrayal of musical emotion. Alongside Lothrop will be Jeff Katz, a guitarist with a rich, extensive musical background. From performing alongside Stone Temple Pilots to touring across countries, Katz explores musical themes with great knowledge. Two deeply unique performances packed within a show you will not want to miss experiencing.
The Lily Lothrop and Jeff Katz show is just one of many musical nights the Songwriter Series plans to put on. The series will continue monthly from the third Friday in April and beyond, with future lineups planning to be released. The Songwriter Series, hosted by the Sandy McKnight Songwriters Fund, was created as an avenue to honor McKnight, an inspirational artist who formed himself to be a prominent figure in the Berkshire community.
“Sandy’s work was to build these spaces for community and performing artists.” says Liv Cummins, the Songwriter Series producer, and McKnight’s wife. “That’s what we want to carry on through the Fund.”
After his passing in May of 2024, the Sandy McKnight Songwriters Fund was established to commemorate McKnight’s work as a singer, songwriter, and producer. Since its inception in December 2024, the Songwriter Series has been dedicated to showcasing new voices to its audiences; with the addition of an open-mic portion of these events, the Songwriter Series welcomes any artists to express their creative side in a supportive environment. The Sandy McKnight Songwriters Fund hopes to encourage confidence in new creatives alongside the showcasing of work by seasoned musicians.
