PREVIEW: Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Announces Music at Noon Lineup

If you close your eyes and hear the words ‘live music,’ I bet you picture some form of nightlife. A crowded bar or club, abundant with noise from band and audience members alike. An outdoor amphitheater packed thousands of seats deep drinking overpriced beer. Or maybe a damp, dingy basement with no qualms about breaking fire codes or noise ordinances. Pick your poison.

But if you’re looking for an alternative to such outings because it’s getting harder and harder to hang — I feel you, imaginary reader — Troy Savings Bank Music Hall may have just the antidote for you. Since 1988, the revered venue in the heart of Troy has presented a free, monthly concert series that takes place during the lunch hour. Yes, you read that correctly. And yes, feel free to take a moment to imagine some band like the Ramones serenading you while you’re eating a brown bagged lunch. I know I am.

Fortunately — or unfortunately, depending on which side of the proverbial lunch table you’re on — the Music at Noon concert series is a bit quieter than the Forest Hills punk icons would deliver. Featuring an eclectic mix of local artists, there’s something for everyone on this year’s lineup. Check out the full schedule below and start planning your lunch breaks early!

January 13th – Lost Radio Rounders

Acoustic Americana trio featuring Tom Lindsay and Eddies Hall-of-Famers Michael Eck and Paul Jossman.

February 10th – Michael Century

March 10th – Oxalis Trio

A flute, oboe, and piano trio based in the Hudson Valley, performing music by a wide range of composers, from the well-known to the more obscure.

May 12th – Findlay Cockrell
