PREVIEW: Jason Isbell Returns to Tanglewood

Is there a better use of a late summer Friday night than watching a six-time Grammy Award-winning artist grace the stage at an iconic venue like Tanglewood?
It’s a rhetorical question — of course there isn’t.
Just a short trek east from the Capital Region this Friday will award fans the opportunity to see Jason Isbell in all his glory. After a last minute rescheduling earlier this summer, the celebrated songwriter will be performing a discography-spanning set including songs like “Cover Me Up,” “If We Were Vampires” and “Alabama Pines.” I assume, at least. I’m not a psychic, after all. But ultimately, it doesn’t even matter what’s on the set list. Isbell is one of the most lauded songwriters of our generation; he truly doesn’t miss, and therefore, you shan’t be disappointed.

And I’m a True Believer that Jason Isbell is one of our greatest living songwriters — truly Something To Love. Whether you’re from a local Speed Trap Town, a Southeastern city like Tupelo, or somewhere as far off as New South Wales or Stockholm, get your ass to Tanglewood where Isbell will have you feeling like the King of Oklahoma. You may even see an Elephant.
