PREVIEW: Celebrate the End of the Summer With The Palace’s Community Block Party
08/15 under The Palace marquee, Albany
The Palace Theater is once again hosting their annual community block party, presented by National Grid, Saturday, August 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is free and will take place under the marquee at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Pearl Street. Celebrate the end of summer with live music, DJ’s, vendors, family friendly activities, community organizations, free food and more!
"National Grid is proud to partner with the Palace Performing Arts Center to support the Albany Community Block Party and their year-round community engagement and arts education programming,” Kimberly Ireland, Regional Executive of the National Grid Upstate New York Eastern Division said.
The Community Block Party is a part of the Palace Theatre’s Community Engagement Initiative and is one of several free and low-cost arts and educational programs offered by the Palace that positively impact local children and families each year. Now entering its eighth year, the annual Block Party welcomes thousands of families to Downtown Albany each year.
“These programs provide opportunities for families to come together, engage with the arts, and build stronger community connections, bringing together families, local organizations, businesses, and community partners in a spirit of celebration and inclusion. We are honored to support the Palace Theatre's efforts to make these experiences accessible to residents across the Capital Region,” Ireland said.
The Community Block Party has activities for the whole family — live Music by The Ky McClinton Band and the Albany Rock Pit Showcase Band, pony rides and a petting zoo, a kids zone with face painting, balloon twisters, a bounce house, games and giveaways, educational activities with Ten Broeck Mansion, create interactive art with Albany Center Gallery and much more!
This year the party also has a brand new partnership with Ted's Fish Fry, who will be on site preparing complimentary hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone in attendance, while supplies last.
