“Before long, all three levels of the Dutch Apple ship were full of people laughing, dancing, lounging, and just all around having a good time with each other…”
This April, the newly-minted Canna Crew presented its very first Canna Cruise in collaboration with Dutch Apple Cruises. A resounding success, they are now setting sail again this Friday, July 10 for a cannabis-themed encore.
In the lead-up to the inaugural event, there was a heavy emphasis on the lack of social smoking opportunities since NYS legalized recreational marijuana in 2021. While the consumption of cannabis has now been legal in the Empire state for about half a decade, it’s still difficult for those who enjoy partaking in the herb to engage in the same sort of social functions as those who would rather enjoy a stiff drink (or a handful). Luckily for all of our friendly neighborhood stoners out there, the Canna Cruise was a resounding message that those struggles may soon be a thing of the past.
In case you missed it, the buzz around the dock on April 24 was palpable as a long line formed for admission, with the cruise reaching close to maximum capacity relatively quickly. Before long, all three levels of the Dutch Apple ship were full of people laughing, dancing, lounging, and just all around having a good time with each other, whether it was with the people you came with or complete strangers turning into new friends. With multiple vendors providing samples and even a rolling station for folks to make their own joints, sponsors like Stage One Dispensary, Grocery Cannabis, and Untitled were well represented and enabled all the cruise-goers to hum along the Hudson in a delightful haze.
DJ Harlan kept everyone on the dance floor, and will reprise his role as entertainment master for this Friday’s cruise. The only possible complaint about the evening was that the two hours flew by far too quickly.
Feeling the FOMO yet? Let’s change that. Because if you’re a local cannabis enthusiast, a hemp hobbyist, or just a good old fashioned pothead, you are truly in for a treat. Limited tickets are available now for the cruise, which hits the water from 6–8:00 p.m. this Friday. Bring your own bud, and bring your own buds. It’s gonna be lit.
