PREVIEW: Grammy Award-winning Billy Strings Comes to Albany Next Week

11/12 @ MVP Arena, Albany

Popular bluegrass singer-songwriter Billy Strings will make a stop in Albany on Wednesday, November 12, as part of his extensive fall tour. The performance at MVP Arena will mark his first back in Albany since his 2018 show at The Egg.

The 33-year-old Michigan native has charmed the music world with his diverse sound, encompassing traditional bluegrass with metal, rock and psychedelic influences.

His four studio albums have garnered attention internationally. Strings’ first live album, Live Vol. 1, won Best Bluegrass Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart.

Highway Prayers, a 20-track, full-length record released in the fall of 2024, also saw great success, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s all-genre Top Album Sales Chart. The achievement marked the first time in 22 years that a bluegrass album was the top-seller across genres.

Strings continues to make his mark on the music sphere and beyond, making a slew of TV appearances on hits like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! He and his band also recorded a cover of the Refreshments’ song “Yahoos and Triangles” for the end credits of the recently-revived animated hit, King of the Hill.

Strings offers something for everyone with his refreshing, unique spin on bluegrass, that seamlessly blends his influences of varying genres and artists, spanning from Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath, to Doc Watson and the Stanley Brothers.

His stop in Albany this month is one of only two New York performances scheduled for his fall tour, with the other being a sold out show in Rochester.
