PREVIEW: Albany Gay Men’s Chorus Celebrate the Holiday Season with Two Bright Performances

12/07 @ Emmanuel Friedens Church, Schenectady

12/13 @ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Albany

Jingle All The Way is more than a concert — it’s a celebration of belonging…”

There is no better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a musical performance that celebrates all people while also supporting a good cause. For two nights, the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus will be doing just that.

On December 7 and 13, the AGMC will be performing traditional carols, contemporary holiday hits, and heartfelt choral arrangements. The performances will be held at the Emmanuel Friedens Church in Schenectady and St. Paul’s Epicostal Church in Albany, respectively. Under the direction of Artistic Director Dan White, AGMC’s talented ensemble brings warmth and harmony to audiences of all backgrounds.

“Jingle All The Way is more than a concert — it’s a celebration of belonging,” says White. “We invite everyone to join us in song and solidarity this holiday season.”

Gay men’s choirs and choruses have a long history in the United States, with the first openly gay chorus starting in San Francisco in 1978. Since then, more groups have formed throughout the country, offering queer people a place to express themselves while enjoying music. The Albany Gay Men’s Chorus has been active since 2008 and is the Capital Region’s own slice of musical and queer history.

Along with celebrating the holiday season, portions of the sales from the AGMC’s performances will go to Prism Counseling. Prism Counseling is a counseling and advocacy organization focused on helping *2SLGBTQIA+ people with a variety of issues. They provide help with general therapy, harm reduction, transition assistance, case management, and more. The ticket sales from the Jingle All the Way performances will help queer people in the Capital Region to access the counseling and advocacy they need to thrive.

December is full of reminders of how and why we should be kind to those in our community and extend a helping hand to others. These performances by the AGMC are a perfect way to experience holiday cheer while supporting an organization that uplifts members of your community.

Tickets and more information about the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus are available now at albanygmc.org.

AGMC is a proud member of GALA Choruses and has been uplifting the Capital Region through music and advocacy since 2008. The chorus welcomes all voices and celebrates LGBTQ+ visibility through performance and outreach.
