PREVIEW: A Party With THEM @ The End of Man

You know we love all things DIY at Metroland. In fact, many even consider us to be a DIY paper...magazine...publication. In that spirit, the winds of the scene wafted an exciting event happening September 27 our way.
A Party With THEM will feature 10 vendors and 12 bands in a half-day whirlwind of all the local music, arts, and crafts scenes have to offer. Everyone will find their place nestled into every corner of The End of Man.
"Where is The End of Man?" you're probably asking. Well, just take a right at [redacted] follow [redacted] until you see [redacted], then it'll be the [redacted] just past the [redacted]. Or you can make it easy and DM @theendofman or @lenuhp on Instagram to try to pass the sniff test.
Musical acts run the gamut from softhearted indie courtesy of the Belle Curves and Almost Francis, jank rock and rap from Xavier Ayy, "Tony Hawk Music" from Everybody That Loves You, shoegaze, emo, and much much more. When you need a break from rocking out or crying at the side of the stage (that's ok, you won't be the only one), you can peruse the wares and crafts from nearly a dozen vendors. Get yourself some custom gel nails from @angelinaxnail, upcycled clothing from Dizzy Cherie, one-off screenprinted vintage piece from Safety Pin, antiques and oddities from ZZ Goblin, oil paintings fit for a horror set from Blood Meta, handmade jewelry from Intertwined, and that's just the start of it. If your eyes get bigger than your wallet, you might even get a chance to prove your worth on the digital asphalt during a rumored Mario Kart tournament.
All this moshing and shopping might work up a mighty hunger within you, which Cohoes' finest Filipino cuisine will be happy to fill. That's right — Chee-bog will be slinging lumpia, adobo, and a variety of other fried and barbecued treats.
I asked organizer and fellow photographer Lane Road what inspired the fest and they said, "I believe that the purpose of life is to make art, hang out, and walk away having learned something." As this is their first attempt at organizing something like this since moving to the area from Chicago, they just hope to "bring a lot of different people together who otherwise wouldn't normally find themselves in the same room." After our conversation, it was abundantly clear that fellowship between creatives was really the ultimate goal here. They want to bring bigger acts to the same stage as young guns and seasoned craftspeople at a table next to those who are just getting started.
In short, they just want those who like the same things to meet.
"If one new friendship or collaboration forms because of this event, I would consider it a success.”
