Fresh off their mid-September run of Abe Koogler’s Deep Blue Sound at Steamer No. 10 Theatre in Albany, the Harbinger cast and crew have received several well-deserved nominations for the Berkie Awards! This will be the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association’s ninth year celebrating theater in the greater Berkshire region, with the awards ceremony being held on Monday, November 10th.

Harbinger racked up three nominations for their production of Deep Blue Sound: Tony Pallone for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Play, Chris Foster for Outstanding Direction of a Play and the entire cast for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. These are the first three Berkie nominations for Harbinger, founded by members of Acting Class with Patrick White just out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The play follows the intersecting lives of nine islanders in the Pacific Northwest, forced together initially by the disappearance of their beloved pod of migratory whales, but tied together by so much more. Pallone, who played a variety of roles from a divorced husband trying to win back his wife to a teenage boy following a dancing dream that no one seems to understand, expressed his deep gratitude for the cast and crew of Harbinger, remarking “I’m so grateful to the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association for recognizing the work of the incredibly talented group of people who made Deep Blue Sound come to life. I was deeply honored for the chance to work with each and every one of them, and I’m very much looking forward to the possibility of future collaboration with Harbinger Theatre. To everyone who sees themselves as a little minnow: Know that you are a whale.”

Harbinger’s next production will be the Capital Region premiere of Swing State by Rebecca Gilman at Sand Lake Center for the Arts. Performances will be held 11/13, 11/14, 11/15, 11/21, 11/22 at 7:30pm and 11/16 and 11/23 at 2:30pm. 11/13 is a FREE Preview performance. There will be talkbacks after 11/14 and 11/21 and 11/15 will celebrate the Wisconsin setting of the play with a Cheese Tasting Reception at 6:30pm.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 at www.actingclasswithpatrickwhite.net
