Big news for music fans in the Capital Region: the 150-year-old Troy Savings Bank Music Hall got a $15 million face lift. Governor Kathy Hochul just unveiled the brand-new Capital Region Music Hub. The investment for the expansion and renovation of the facility is part of the Department of State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI).

“New York’s arts and cultural sector is a critical part of our economic prosperity and global leadership,” Hochul said. “Through our investments in capital projects like these, we are promoting cultural and economic growth in communities across New York. And, with the completion of this project, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall will continue to attract audiences, spark growth and strengthen the region for generations to come.”

With $6.5 million in funding from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and Empire State Development (ESD) with a $1.5 million contribution through the DRI, this allows the Music Hall to operate as a 24/7, 365-day-a-year cultural powerhouse, broadening its accessibility to the Capital Region community. The upgraded facility features rehearsal and event rooms, an educational classroom, and updated HVAC. This is the first interior renovation to the property in over 20 years.

“This project is the culmination of years of hard work between our incredible architecture, construction, and consulting teams, as well as our local elected officials, partner organizations and our staff and volunteers,” Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Executive Director Jon Elbaum said.
