BREAKING: Albany Center Gallery Announces New Location Downtown
At a press conference this afternoon, the beloved Albany Center Gallery announced it will be relocating to a new home at The Rise building in the heart of downtown Albany!
This new location at 48 North Pearl St. will be a significant glow up for the gallery, providing more physical space and a venue that better reflects their continued growth and evolving impact on the local cultural landscape. Dedicated art spaces for youth programs, additional exhibition areas, and flex spaces for special events are just a few of the upgrades the gallery will boast in its new home.
The press conference included Tony Iadicicco and Rita Papandrea from the gallery, plus Georgette Steffens of Downtown BID, and Jill Delaney of Discover Albany.
Albany Center Gallery first opened its doors in 1977, and has been providing a platform for contemporary visual artists within the Capital Region ever since. The nonprofit gallery consistently features artists who employ a variety of artistic disciplines, including (but certainly not limited to!) painting, sculpture, photography, printing and mixed media. It is the gallery’s core belief that art should be accessible to everyone, which they have backed up by ensuring all of their exhibitions, receptions and artist interviews are free and open to the public. This is made possible by the support of individual, corporate and government donations, membership fees, and commissions on art sales. For more information on how you can support the gallery, visit www.albanycentergallery.org.
Additionally, tomorrow night Governor Hochul will be hosting the first public workshop for the Downtown Albany Strategy, part of her Championing Albany’s Potential (CAP) initiative. All are invited to participate and help guide State investments over the next 5–10 years with the goal of improving public spaces, making streets safer, supporting local businesses & creating more housing. The meeting will begin at 4:30 PM at Albany Capital Center, 55 Eagle St, 1st Level. For more information, visit https://socialpresskit.com/downtown-albany-strategy.
