PREVIEW: Lake George Dinner Theatre Returns for 58th Season
Beginning 7/11 @ Holiday Inn Resort, Lake George
“Both shows are hilariously funny and remind us of the importance of friends and family.”
The Lake George Dinner Theatre returns for its 58th season, with two shows sharing the importance of friends and family, beginning July 11 at the Holiday Inn Resort in Lake George.
The musical Guys on Ice will kick off their 58th year of entertainment, with a story about longtime buddies, Marvin and Lloyd. The book and lyrics, written by Fred Alley, immerse the audience in the pair’s fishing experience, filled with playful wit and wisdom as they pass the time waiting for the fish to bite. The music, by James Kaplan, explores themes of life, friendship and the one that got away, with songs like “The Wishing Hole” and “Fish is the Miracle Food.” The comical tunes promise to liven an otherwise boring reality that often comes with sitting on an upended bucket over a hole on a frozen lake. Guys on Ice will run from July 11 through August 30.
The season will continue with a hilarious new comedy, Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, by Katie Forgette. Set in 1973, we witness a family crisis of biblical proportions after the parish priest overhears 19-year-old Linda O’Shea tell her kid sister about the birds and the bees. The cash-strapped O’Shea family then has to navigate the most turbulent day of their lives. Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help will open on September 12, and run through October 11.
“I am so excited for our two shows this year, which we have affectionately dubbed our season of ‘Friends and Family,’” Artist Director Jarel Davidow shared. “Both shows are hilariously funny and remind us of the importance of friends and family. I can’t wait to share both these shows with our Lake George Dinner Theatre family!”
