REVIEW: Punks Take Over the Scotia Diner
05/24 @ Scotia Diner, Scotia

This past Sunday, I caught myself in a new predicament. I sat down at the bar at Scotia diner, had a nice chat with another punk over the tough decision not to eat so he could get wild in the pit, and let my eyes dance over a new but familiar menu. I then ordered what turned out to be an absolutely delicious, juicy patty melt and a plate full of perfectly crispy french fries.
Moments into enjoying my little vignette of heart-clogging Americana, I heard the familiar sounds of a Marshall stack feeding back and a drummer getting their nervous energy out. Knowing I only had moments to spare, I forced myself into tragedy by scarfing down my sandwich and inhaling the fries while slamming down a card, hoping it would be run by the time the set started in earnest. With moments to spare, the card was returned, I tipped well as a thank you to the owners for being supportive enough to host a DIY Crisis Isolation show in their spare room, and snaked my way through the packed crowd to grab the shots you'll see below. Let it be known: Scotia has some of the best diner food in our area, and a few good bands like Public Acid, Horse Grave, Cheap Heat, Blissful Myth, and You Are Not Brave Enough, can still tear up a room below flags, faded pictures, and quippy signs from Hobby Lobby.
