GALLERY: Flatwounds Take Over Empire Underground for Live Video Shoot

1/9 @ Empire Underground, Albany

From my first steps into Empire Underground for Faltwounds’ video shoot, I was struck by two thoughts:

1) I'm old as Hell.

2) I don't think I saw as many JNCOs, liberty spikes, or baggy tees in the actual Y2K era as I did in that basement club last week.

I have no idea what to call the genre these bands were playing, but it took heavy influence from the nu-whatever bands I'd hear on MTV or my older cousins’ CD player back then. The flash got kicked off my camera by a stage diver and I even got into a little verbal altercation, but the thing that stuck with me most was the number of smiles covering the faces I could make out through the chaos. It was crazy, it got violent, but most of all, these kids had FUN.
