ThFirst Friday Albany isn’t a new idea—it actually got its start about 20 years ago, thanks to a group of Albany organizations and businesses who wanted to showcase the city’s vibrant music and visual arts scene. Sadly, the original First Friday eventually fell victim to the pandemic in the early 2020s.

That’s where Metroland Now steps in. Sharing that same mission of bringing local music and art to the public, it only made sense for Metroland Now to take the baton and carry it into the future.

Metroland’s first official First Friday was August 1st! 20+ locations participated and the weather couldn’t have been better. From live music to moveable murals, Albany really showed the best of what’s around and the best is truly yet to come!
