We are fortunate here in the Capital Region to have many vibrant music venues offering great shows on any given evening. One of those venues is No Fun in Troy. I recently went to No Fun to take in a trio of great acts, including two from right here in NY and the headliner from our friends to the north.
The evening kicked off with Schenectady-based band The Abyssmals, performing their unique blend of psychedelic garage rock with hints of surf rock, punk, and blues. Following The Abyssmals was The Stevenson Ranch Davidians. Originally from Southern California, the band eventually relocated to the Hudson Valley, bringing with them their distinct blend of 1960s-inspired indie psych music.
The bill’s headliner was Montreal-based psychedelic rock/psych-pop band Elephant Stone. Known for blending classic psychedelic rock with Indian instrumentation, their sound fit seamlessly into the evening’s psychedelic theme.
