Earlier this month, The Albany Fund for Education's "Celebrating Together for our Students" Gala honored the Regional Food Bank, Market 32 and Price Chopper for their support fighting food insecurity in the Albany schools, as well as State Senator Patricia Fahy for her continuing advocacy for public education and support for Albany students. More than 250 people attended the event on Saturday, May 2 at the new Love Albany Center, dining on food provided by local restaurants and served by students from the culinary program at Albany High School. Guests also enjoyed music by the Albany High Jazznanian Devils (with guest appearance by Supt. John Hochreiter on drums), and DJing from DJ TruMastr. The event raised more than $70K for the programs of the Albany Fund for Education, a nonprofit that provides grants for enrichment programs in the Albany City School District and supports school food pantries and weekend food programs to fight food insecurity in the district.
