The Capital Region Festival of Theaters (CRFT) was created in 2024 to showcase the unrivaled level of enthusiasm and participation in theatre throughout New York’s Capital Region. The four-day, eight venue, region wide celebration of all things theatrical took place June 12 – June 15, 2025 in Albany and its surrounding cities, towns and hamlets.

The festival kicked off with a CRFT Mixer at The Cue Theatre on Thursday, June 12th. The weekend that followed featured themed events at individual venues: Senior Day at Sand Lake Center For The Arts, Theatre Education Day at Theatre Institute at Sage, Theatre Maker Morning at Fort Salem Theater, Musical Matinee at SLOC, Downtown Saturday Night at theREP, and CRFT Day at UAlbany. There was even a Mayoral Candidate Forum on Theatre and the Arts held at the Madison Theatre.

“Amazingly, everything that we had planned and envisioned went off without a hitch,” organizer Patrick White said. “The festival events all ran on time, we had plenty of food everywhere, and there were discoveries made by every participant (including me) at every event.”

Some of our photographers were on hand to capture a bit of the magic; check out their galleries below and visit www.crftinc.org for more information on the organization.
