PREVIEW: Comedy Night After Take A Bite
Beginning 7/9 @ The Park Theatre, Glens Falls
Everyone loves dinner and a show, but why not give each their own moment of glory with dinner and then a show?
This summer, The Park Theater Foundation presents a new summer comedy series, Comedy Night After Take A Bite. Every Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. July 9 through August 20, The Park Theater in Glens Falls will offer performances immediately following the Take A Bite event in downtown Glens Falls, a seasonal event that hosts local eateries offering small plates to visitors strolling through downtown, allowing them to sample the city’s dining scene.
Doors for all comedy shows will open at 6:30 p.m. and include a bar with snacks and drinks available for purchase.
Here’s a rundown of the performance schedule:
July 9, July 16 and July 23, will each feature a regional showcase of six to eight comedians.
July 30, will be headlined by New York City comedian Ariel Elias. Her humor first provoked laughs at her bat mitzvah. Today, her comedy offers a mesh of unique, personal stories mixed with witty and wry observations. She has been described by The New York Times as “a sly young comic from Kentucky.” Elias has also been featured in Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, and named as one of Paste Magazine’s Best Comedians of 2022. Elias has also made numerous TV appearances, including on Good Morning America. She made her late night TV debut after Jimmy Kimmel came across a viral stand-up clip of her’s and invited Elias on Jimmy Kimmel Live! This led to an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2024.
August 6 and August 13 will feature more regional showcases with six to eight comedians.
The final evening of Comedy Night After Take A Bite, on August 20, will be headlined by Carmen Lagala, known to masterfully blend silly and confessional humor in a way that makes listeners feel like they’re pulling an all-nighter with a best friend. Lagala’s fearless approach to comedy and her ability to tackle all topics in her jokes, from current events to personal experiences, didn’t develop overnight. While she’s now a well-known New York City stand-up comedian, she was once just a shy Vermont collegiate hall-of-fame athlete. For about 15 years, Lagala has brought her laugh-out-loud material on topics like awkward relationships, mental health and coming out late in life as pansexual to colleges and clubs around the country. She has also been featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
