PREVIEW: All of Us Presents Summer’s End Disco to Benefit Saratoga Pride

Following the traditions of the ’50s and ’60s, All Of Us is hosting an LGBTQ afternoon tea dance party to benefit Saratoga Pride. Shane Steil of All Of Us spoke with me about the upcoming event.
“I have several friends in Saratoga Pride and we had talked about collaborating on an event for awhile,” Steil starts. “I did some thinking on it and thought, ‘What about a tea dance? An afternoon, sunny tea dance.’ Tea dances are a part of our [LGBTQ] history. I even had a few people ask for one. So, we’re doing a Sunday afternoon tea dance!”
In order to make it a proper celebration, All Of Us is bringing back Robbie Leslie, a renowned DJ of Studio 54 fame.
Opening for Leslie is the Capital Region’s own Synes with the host of the evening, Starling Silver.
“This is the second time [Synes] is opening for Robbie. I’m really excited to have him. It’s his second time because he did so well the first time. He’s just a phenomenal artist in the community,” Steil explains, his passion for the event evident in his voice.
“And Starling? Starling is just a joy. Starling is charismatic and just such a lovely person, and a star in her own right. She’s former Miss Gay Albany. I’m glad we have Starling as our official host.”
Sounds like an absolutely perfect combination! Steil makes it clear that the public facing people are extremely loved, but he’s also very thankful for the folks behind the scenes. Steil explains that he was absolutely amazed by all of the sponsors who stepped forward to help create this event, businesses and community members alike.

Afterall, Pride isn’t just a June-long event. Pride is year-round.
“I like to help create safe spaces for people. Not just for LGBTQ people, but for women, too. Nothing but dancing and music. That’s my absolute joy.”
If summers in Saratoga are a bit too raucous for you, a cool evening in September is the perfect time to go. Gaffney’s, a once staple in Saratoga, has recently reopened, making it a special, Saratoga-centric location for the event. If you haven’t been to Gaffney’s since before the closure, now is the perfect opportunity to see it and share in the space and celebrate with others, safely, through music.
